What is the story behind Childs Farm?
Childs Farm was created for my youngest daughter, Bella, who suffers from Atopic Eczema. When she was a baby, I couldn’t find anything to soothe her eczema-prone skin and everything I tried at bathtime would irritate her causing massive discomfort and upset. The baby personal care aisle was a tired and dusty place, with no developments for the eczema-prone skin since I had suffered as a child in the 1970s.
So I took it upon myself to create my own solutions for her; from bubble bath to hair care and skincare, full of moisturising natural origin ingredients, with fragrances to uplift and excite, but that didn’t irritate. And I packaged these up in bottles with vignettes from our own farm, featuring my own daughters, their cousins and all of our animals.
These worked so well for Bella that I created a business to help other parents who were concerned about sensitive skin, and in 2014 Childs Farm launched in Boots and Waitrose, quickly becoming the nation’s favourite skincare brand for babies and children.
